How to Choose a Reliable FTL Transport Company in Delhi NCR

5 min read · Updated September 2026

Delhi NCR has no shortage of transporters willing to quote you a rate. The gap between the cheapest quote and a transporter who actually shows up on time, with the right paperwork, and your goods undamaged, only becomes visible after something goes wrong. Here's what to check before that happens, not after.

Does the transporter own trucks, or just resell someone else's?

Many "transport companies" are brokers — they take your booking and sub-hire a truck from the open market, often from a driver or fleet owner they've never worked with before. That's not automatically a problem, but it means the person you're negotiating with has no direct control over the vehicle, the driver, or what happens if either doesn't show up. Ask directly: is this truck from your own fleet, or hired for this trip? A transporter who owns or has long-term contracted trucks can commit to a driver and a vehicle, not just a market rate.

GST invoicing and e-way bill support, without you having to ask

Every legitimate interstate FTL booking needs GST-compliant invoicing and, above the value threshold, an e-way bill matching the actual vehicle. A transporter who treats this as an afterthought — or worse, expects you to generate it yourself with no support — is handing you the risk of a detained consignment at a checkpost. This should be part of the standard booking process, not a special request.

Can they tell you where your truck is, right now?

"The driver will call you" is not tracking. At minimum, expect a phone number for the actual driver once the truck is loaded, and ideally GPS-based visibility for the length of the trip. If a transporter can't answer "where is my truck" within a few minutes during business hours, they don't have real operational control over the shipment — they're relaying secondhand information same as you'd get calling the driver yourself.

What happens if the truck breaks down or the driver is unavailable?

Ask this one directly, before you need the answer. A transporter with only one truck for your route has no fallback if something goes wrong. One running a fleet across multiple routes can usually substitute a vehicle within hours. This matters more on time-sensitive shipments than any other factor on this list.

Is the quote actually complete?

Ask thisWhy
Does this include loading and unloading labor?A common line item added after the fact
Is this rate fixed, or subject to revision at delivery?Diesel/toll "adjustments" shouldn't be a surprise
Who is liable if the cargo is damaged in transit?Verbal assurances aren't insurance
What's the cancellation policy if my pickup date shifts?Freight schedules move — know the cost before you commit

We run our own fleet out of Delhi NCR — not a brokered marketplace — with GST invoicing, e-way bill support and a driver contact number on every booking as standard. Ask us any of the above; we'd rather answer it upfront than have you find out after the truck's already loaded.
